The workshop summarized the first two tasks of the project. Lodz University of Technology showed the results from the assessment of the microbial contamination of gathered historical books. All research teams also presented the results from the use of molecular and biochemical methods to analyse the microbial biodiversity for selected books (high throughput sequencing (Illumina platform) – Slovak Academy of Sciences; MALDI-TOF-MS (University of Chemistry and Technology); ITS region of fungal DNA (Lodz University of Technology).
